E334: With Purpose Comes Wealth - Steven Pesavento

Episode Notes

When trying to attract money into your life, one of the beliefs that really comes to the forefront is this idea of having a really strong purpose and mission, a really strong reason why that money needs to flow into your life.  In this episode, Steven shares with you his findings while talking to a mentor, uncovering an altruistic reason for wealth, and how a focus on the material side of money can negatively impact your life.

Key Takeaways

  1. When you can have your mission tied directly to both material and altruistic purposes, money will flow through and to you in infinite abundance.
  2. There are bad belief systems about money that impact your ability to clearly define a purpose or mission.
  3. Once you understand what your driving force for money is, then you can figure out how to bring in more of that other side that will help you truly find your purpose.

This is the Investor Mindset podcasts and I'm Steven Pesavento. For as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with understanding how we can think better, how we can be better, and how we can do better. And each episode, we explore lessons on motivation and mindset for the most successful real estate investors and entrepreneurs in the nation.

So I fly into town, and I'm sitting down with one of my mentors, and you know, we're having dinner and we're talking and this person is extremely successful, they exited a phenomenal business, they turn that money over into many, many, many real estate projects, and have essentially turned their family, you know, their family's wealth between their kids and themselves into you know, billion plus of dollars. So this person has found success and one of the ultimate ways through building businesses and investing in real estate, and really is holding on to all of those projects in order to create massive amounts of income. And so what's so fascinating about this, as I'm sitting down, and I'm, I'm talking with this mentor, and this person is experienced, massive amounts of success. When you speak to them and look at them, you can feel the energy of success, but you feel this energy of humility, this groundedness, this person ability, they are doing it for all the right reasons. So as I'm diving in, and I'm understanding more about how this individual thinks about money, and I'm talking with them, and and he's sharing, you know, the importance of family in his life, the importance of his driving mission, the importance of his belief system, and how each of these individual things play into it, I start to recognize some patterns throughout this conversation. And some of these patterns can absolutely make a huge difference for each and every one of you. So I may share some more of these in the future, if you like them, absolutely hit me up on your favorite Instagram or LinkedIn and, and let me know if you'd like to hear more.

But one of these beliefs that really stuck out to me is this idea of having a really, really strong purpose and mission, a really strong reason why that money needs to flow into your life, having that purpose behind money, having that purpose behind the passive income you're creating behind the wealth that you're creating. And by having this really specific driven purpose, when you can have this purpose that really ties directly into your number that ties directly into the number that you're driving for that next target that number that is going to allow you to live more of the life that you want to live and to step into that being your reality, when you have that mission. And it's tied both to both to two specific topics, when it ties specifically to both a spiritual mission and a material mission. Another way of putting it an altruistic mission, a mission for outside of yourself, for others, a mission for altruistic reasons, a mission for others, and a mission for internal reasons, a mission for yourself a mission for the ego, for the material for the things that come as a result of the tool of what money can do for you, when you can have your mission tied directly to both of those things. When you can have your mission tied directly to both of those things, money will flow through and to you in infinite abundance.

And what's so fascinating about this is, you know, oftentimes we think to ourselves, and you know, maybe you're exactly like me, and you've thought to yourself, hey, I really have you know, this driving desire, this desire to be able to make another 10,020 $50,000 a month of passive income so that I can live well beyond my means so that I can make an impact in the world so that I can have that security that maybe I never had, that I want my family to have. Right within that statement, you can hear both the inter reasons and the outer reasons you can hear both the spiritual reasons and the material reasons. You can hear this idea of doing it for others, this idea of doing it for a greater purpose for a greater mission for greater impact for the impact to other people making their life better, as well as the material which is making your life better, which is allowing you to have that ego, that belief that drive inside to feel good to have that money as a tool to go out and do the things that you personally want to do. This is so key. And I had not realized this because growing up for so long. It was all about the material because that's what we were lacking, we're lacking huge in the material world. You know, looking back, I remember very distinctly having, you know, two parents that always thought about money, having two parents who always said, you know, don't ask for it, don't ask where we can't afford it, it's not going to happen. So what that ends up coming to is this idea of that this lack the, there's the materials missing, and then we go out, and we build these beliefs that are powerful, about what money can do for us how it's a tool, how it can absolutely drive us to being able to have the things we want, feel good, feel big, feel powerful, feel strong, feel motivated, while also on the flip side, when we can look at it and see from that spiritual side as we get into the space, and we realize that the material will not, it will not make us happy all the time. It definitely makes you happier, I've been broke, and I've been rich. And I will absolutely say being rich and being wealthy and having money is absolutely much better than not having money.

Steven Pesavento  06:11

With that said, there's something that's missing. And this is where a lot of people who have money will look for purpose. Or this is where you'll see those people with money, who are unhappy, who are really focused exclusively on that material side. And it almost is toxic. And this is where a lot of people, they create their beliefs about money that ends up putting them into a position and a place. And a belief system that says money does not do good things for people that it makes them bad that makes them evil. These are BS beliefs. It's a bad belief system, it's, it's something that is not going to serve you but I understand where it comes from, because I've thought the same thing too. But when you change that belief, when you can understand that money is a powerful tool for you, and allowing you to do some amazing things. And you absolutely need to have it driven towards those things on the material. But when you tie it to the purpose, and a lot of people will go the opposite direction, they'll say I only want to make an impact, I only want to do good in the world. That's all that matters to me. And you can hear that in them. But they're missing that material piece. And therefore they never see money flow to them in great abundance. Maybe they're making an impact. This is a lot of people who are working in the nonprofit sector, there's a feeling that I would prescribe just from my own experience that maybe it's not good, maybe it's evil, and there's a fear around it. But when you can shift that when you can add both pieces to the table, when you can set your proverbial financial table securely. When you have all four legs, when you have these two key pieces, really acting as the yin and the yang, some amazing things will happen.

Steven Pesavento  08:01

So as I'm sitting down, and I'm talking with this person, and they are infinitely wealthy, the amount of capital and money that they have, will only continue to grow because they learned about money, they've learned about how to multiply money, they've learned about how that money can work for them, how it can make an impact how they can make an impact in their church, in their community, in their family, how they can teach people how they can give back, all of these things are so powerful. And so I'm sitting across the table, I'm sitting across the table, I'm talking this person, I have this realization, and I bring it up to them. And they say absolutely, you have to have both pieces. And this is the thing that they learned early in their life,  when they were studying extremely wealthy people and they were looking the Rockefellers, when they were looking at some of the wealthiest families throughout history, they had recognized that they had both of those driving motivating factors, they had an impact that was external, they also had a huge impact that was internal. And both of these pieces have to come into play. So I asked for you. Which one are you more focused on right now? Which one? Are you more focused on? Are you more focused on the impact? Are you more thinking about others? Are you more thinking about how this is going to change your family's life? Are you more thinking about how you can make an impact external of your family in the community or in your church or in other areas and places? Or are you focused more on the material but how it can make an impact for you how it can change you all can empower you how it can really do some incredible things. As you start to understand what that current driving factor is. I encourage you to start looking for and finding ways that you can bring in more of the other side so you can have the yin and the yang and when you do that while you have a strong belief that money is easy that money He is simple. And that all you have to do is learn the lessons about money, which I will absolutely teach you, I'll teach you those lessons about money. And as I continue to learn new lessons talking with wealthy people, I will share those with you and, and you can share those with others and, and together, you'll be able to make an absolutely huge impact towards your income, your wealth, your net worth, and most importantly, as we talked about, spiritually and and within the community. So with that, I appreciate you listening.
